Reigning Italian Serie A champions AC Milan and supplier Puma are thinking outside the box for the club’s new home kit for the 2022-23 season.

The kits were unveiled on Monday, July 4. They are predominantly black, with the club’s traditional red vertical stripes down the front. The stripes, however, cut near the shoulders and hemlines, giving it the same boxy look as some of the the latest national team jerseys unveiled by Puma.

“The new AC Milan home shirt is a combination of fashion, design, street culture and heritage. The shirt pays homage to what makes Milan unique,” ​​said Marco Mueller, senior football manager. product line management for Puma’s team sportswear, on ACMilan.com. “To bring this jersey to life, we wanted to create a campaign rooted in Milanese culture. The sleeve cuffs feature the red, white and green Italian flag, while the collar features a red insert. The Coat of arms of Milan is printed on the back collar. And the scudetto – a shield with the Italian flag carried by the reigning Serie A champions – will be placed in the middle of the chest.

Meanwhile, fellow Serie A side Atalanta completed their 2022-23 kit lineup over the weekend with the release of their third kits, made by Joma. The jersey has a light teal base – or “aquamarine”, as the club calls it -, with blue and black vertical stripes next to each other on the front, back and sleeves.
