Arsenal and Tottenham have dealt a blow to the transfer of the Bundesliga midfielder amid interest from Juventus

Arsenal and Tottenham have received a potential blow in their pursuit of Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Both London clubs have reportedly expressed interest in the 25-year-old, who is set to be a free agent this summer, but Serie A side Juventus are now reportedly pushing to sign him in January.

It would be a blow to both teams, who have struggled to sign players this month, despite their concerted attempts to do so.

Arsenal are reportedly pushing for Dusan Vlahovic and Arthur Melo this month, although the former has now joined Juventus and the latter looks more likely to stay at the club after talks broke down.

As for Spurs, they had been linked with a move for Adama Traore and Luis Diaz, although both appear to be moving to other clubs in the remaining days of the window.

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is reportedly close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium, however, which could allay some concerns about the midfielder being strengthened in the market.

So, while it hasn’t gone to plan for both clubs so far, they may have received another blow in Zakaria, making the potential move to Juventus.

SportBILD reported in October 2021 that the two north London rivals were showing interest, with the midfielder not ready to extend his contract at his current club.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri are now making their move for the 25-year-old rather than waiting for a free transfer this summer.

The reporter claims talks have taken place over the past few hours over a last-minute move, with Juve offering €7m (£5.8m) to land him this month.

While this may seem like a blow to Arsenal in particular, it could free up the possibility of re-signing Arthur.

As usual around this time, the transfer window is moving fast and deals that weren’t on the table might be available again.
