Gio Reyna returns to Borussia Dortmund training
US international Gio Reyna resumed training with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday as he accelerates his recovery from an injury suffered in early September.
The 19-year-old, who has not played in the Bundesliga since his goal in Dortmund’s 3-2 win over Hoffenheim on Matchday 3 on August 27, was able to participate in the sections of Tuesday’s session and will gradually be reinstated over the coming days.
Reyna tore a muscle in her thigh while on international duty with USMNT in a goalless draw with El Salvador on September 3.
It is an untimely absence for the attacking midfielder, who started the season in sparkling form providing two goals and an assist in his four competitive outings before being forced out.
His comeback comes at the right time for BVB, who are currently without Jude Bellingham (knee), Raphael Guerreiro (muscular), Thorgan Hazard (disease) and Youssoufa Moukoko (eye), while top scorer Erling Haaland did not. only recently returned from a hip flexor injury.
To concern: The best of Gio Reyna
Reyna is unlikely to appear in Dortmund’s Klassiker home fixture against Bayern Munich on Saturday, but will be back in action in the coming weeks.
