Following their 5-1 Champions League win over Porto, Liverpool will look to make a statement against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds hope to beat the Premier League holders ahead of the international break and keep their place at the top of the table. On that note, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool news and rumors as of September 29, 2021.

Bayern Munich lead the race to sign Florian Wirtz

Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen striker Florian Wirtz but are expected to face stiff competition for the German starlet.

According to Christian Falk, Bayern Munich are currently leading the way to sign the 18-year-old. Wirtz is the second youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history.

Wirtz’s impressive performances for Leverkusen earned him an international selection in early September this year.

The talented striker has already scored four goals and provided four assists this season. He is attracting interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Isaac Mabaya signs his first professional contract with Liverpool

Isaac Mbaya has been with Liverpool academy since the age of six and the 17-year-old has now been rewarded with his very first professional contract.

Mabaya went from a wide midfielder to a full-back while playing for Liverpool’s Under-18 team last season. He hopes to impress more this season and will push to make his first-team debut in the near future after signing a contract.

Fiorentina offer Dusan Vlahovic another lucrative contract

Fiorentina have reportedly made another lucrative £ 35million contract offer to Dusan Vlahovic in an attempt to secure his future. The Serbian has been linked with a move to Liverpool, which will need to stifle Arsenal’s interest in the talented striker.

Dusan Vlahovic on English clubs and Atletico Madrid’s proposals last summer: “I wanted to stay at Fiorentina – also because of Italiano as manager. I think I can grow taller here. I’ll have a lot of goals and assists and then the rest will come when it comes, ”he told DAZN. ?? #Vlahovic

Vlahovic was heavily linked with an outing last summer. But he decided to stay put as Fiorentina demanded a massive € 70million fee for his sale in the summer transfer window.

Clubs could return for his signing in 2022. Liverpool could be one of them as they are expected to add more firepower ahead of time.
