Liverpool have reportedly turned down the option of signing Real Madrid outlaw Dani Ceballos after his two-year loan spell at Arsenal ended.

According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Jurgen Klopp has become the latest manager to be offered the 24-year-old Spanish midfielder.

Following the departure of ubiquitous Gini Wijnaldum, the Reds have been linked with a number of options in midfield as it is evident that is a matter of concern.

Reports have said that Real Madrid have priced at £ 26million meaning he has been available for less than transfer rumors from Saul, Renato Sanchez and Youri Tielemans.

Why Liverpool need to sign a midfielder

Midfielder mainstay Gini Wijnaldum left the club on a free transfer this summer, joining PSG. The Dutchman made all 38 league appearances last season, proving his worth to the club.

Wijnaldum’s departure, reports surrounding Jordan Henderson’s future and long injury records for Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain mean this must be a priority for Liverpool’s recruiting squad this summer.

It was already expected that Liverpool would seek to fill this gap in the squad. But it seems increasingly likely, if it wasn’t already, that multiple signings will be required, which begs the question whether Klopp can regret turning down a player who is only 24 and has amassed 49 Premier League appearances over the past two seasons.

What RTK has to say

Ceballos may have presented a ‘cheap’ option to Liverpool to add much needed depth in a worrying position.

We can’t say how reliable Don Balon is, but Ceballos has undoubted talent and it could be a decision Liverpool will regret if they thrive in the right situation.

However, at the moment it appears that a number of other players that Liverpool favor best fit the right player profile for Klopp.
