The Man United hierarchy, after unveiling their new manager on Monday, have drawn up the framework to upgrade the current squad. There are plans to bring in a few midfielders, a centre-half and a versatile striker.

During his time as caretaker manager at Old Trafford, Ralf Rangnick highlighted the need for a younger striker on several occasions. The German asked United’s board to sign a striker in January but his request was rejected.

United are now ready to follow through on their recommendation with a move for RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku.

The Bundesliga striker has scored 35 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions. He capped off his impressive season in front of goal by scoring a late equalizer in the DFB-Pokal final.

Nkunku’s qualities are admired by Rangnick, who recommended his transfer to the Premier League side.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils could make an “official offer” for Nkunku next week, and there is already “good contact” between the club and the player’s representatives.

But Leipzig are firm in their stance to keep their superstar, who has been instrumental in securing Champions League football for next season for Domenico Tedesco’s side.
