Some players are lucky enough to create chances and others, unfortunately, are not.

It takes a special type of player to be able to create an opportunity for your teammate by spotting a gap in a defensive line, whether it’s producing an accurate pass, whipping a knocking cross, or executing a precise set piece. .

Over the years the Bundesliga has hosted some of the game’s luckiest creators and even after a big start 2021/22 looks set to bring more of the same. Underrated Mr. Thomas Müller was the creative king of Germany’s top flight last season, as the only man to hit the 90+ mark with 93 chances created – all but five from open play. The German finished with four chances ahead of Filip Kostic (89) of Eintracht Frankfurt, but the Serbian’s future in the Bundesliga is not guaranteed.

There was then a big jump for Christopher Nkunku of RB Leipzig who completed the top three with 71 chances created, 33 of them from set pieces. After Nkunku there is a long train of players separated by a single created chance, starting with Christian Günter on 68. He ended the campaign with a single advantage over Jadon Sancho, who has now left the Bundesliga for Manchester United, with Joshua Kimmich (66) and Vincenzo Grifo (65) follows the Englishman.

Christopher Trimmel, Jonas Hofmann and Borna Sosa completed the top 10 and are still in the Bundesliga, joining the long list of players hoping to win the crown from Thomas Müller while also trying to dethrone Bayern Munich with their teams.
