Paul Pogba has been nominated for the UEFA Goal of the Season award for his superb goal for France at Euro 2020.

The Manchester United midfielder won’t be too fondly remembered for France’s shocking exit in the round of 16 against Switzerland via penalties after their 3-3 draw.

However, the 29-year-old was rewarded for his magical moment of the game as his incredible finish put France 3-1 with 15 minutes left.

A brace from Karim Benzema put France 2-1 ahead after Haris Seferovic led Switzerland into the lead early in the first half. With 15 minutes to go, Benzema’s strike was bounced outside the box and into Pogba’s path.

The midfielder touched the ball before bringing the ball home to the top 30-yard corner, demonstrating his class.

Despite the disappointing end to the game for Pogba and France, it was easily one of the goals of the tournament.

However, he faces a lot of competition, with nine more goals vying for the prize, including two more from Euro 2020.

Lorenzo Insigne’s goal for Italy against Belgium is on the list, while Patrick Schick’s goal from the halfway line against Scotland is also included, having won the tournament goal prize.

The winner will be determined by public vote on the official UEFA website.
