Northern Ireland teenager Ross McCausland has been named the UEFA Youth League’s Team of the Week.

McCausland played for Rangers B as they beat Sweden’s Hammarby 3-0 this week.

The 18-year-old striker scored twice for the young Light Blues as they recorded an impressive victory in European competition.

McCausland’s brace earned him a place in the UEFA Youth League “Best XI” of the week.

He joined the young rising stars of clubs such as Hadjuk Split, Maccabi Haifa and AZ Alkmaar.

This is the latest success for the Northern Ireland Under-19 international who recently signed a new three-year contract with Rangers.

Reacting to Rangers’ 3-1 win over Hammarby, McCausland told Rangers TV: “I thought the boys were absolutely exceptional, I thought we dominated the game the whole game. After the weekend loss, I thought it was a brilliant response.

“We kept our heads up and the chances kept coming, luckily two fell on me and I took them.”

“It’s only half of a game over, we have yet another game against Hammarby in Sweden and I hope we get the result.”

McCausland was back in action this afternoon for Rangers B, scoring in a Scottish Lowland League clash against Berwick Rangers.
