Thomas Müller wins his 300th Bundesliga game

Thomas Müller claimed his 300th Bundesliga victory as Bayern Munich beat Augsburg on Saturday, joining Manuel Neuer and Oliver Kahn in an elite group of players for reaching the landmark.

Müller still has 90 minutes under his belt as Bayern beat their Bavarian rivals 1-0 through a Robert Lewandowski penalty, with the champions reopening their nine-point advantage over Bundesliga table-topping Borussia Dortmund.

“The 300th victory was not spectacular,” Müller told the Bayern website after the final whistle. “It was a tough game today, but we deserved the win in the second half. It was a big step towards the title. Hopefully I can get a few more wins too.”

Müller is also the only one of three players to have recorded all of his Bundesliga wins in a Bayern shirt, with goalkeepers Neuer (313 wins) and Kahn (310) having rotated for Schalke and Karlsruhe respectively before joining Bayern.

“Congratulations to him, he’s an incredible player,” said team-mate Jamal Musiala bundesliga.com after the final whistle. “He’s an idol for many players and someone you can look up to. He’s an incredible achievement. Few players can reach that milestone. It’s amazing to see him and be a part of it.”

The win also saw Joshua Kimmich record his 150th Bundesliga win, which was only his 196th outing in the German top flight. Only Arjen Robben had previously reached this landmark in so few games.

“Of course it makes you proud,” Kimmich said after the final whistle. “You can say that I play in the best team in Germany, otherwise it wouldn’t be possible to collect so many victories in such a short time. Hopefully there will be more to come.”
