Weekend warm-up: Bayern Munich’s good problem to have; Manuel Neuer deserves another chord; I refer it to Chevelle’s “Vitamin R”; Bundesliga predictions; and more!

When players look to leave their current clubs, they often look at Bayern Munich and make a tough pass – and for good reason.

The Bavarians are absolutely charged at almost every position. For anyone looking for playing time to go with a new contract, Bayern Munich don’t have much to do – just ask Marcel Sabitzer … or Jamal Musiala … or Corentin Tolisso and so on.

The recent news that Karim Adeyemi was a little scared of the intimidating Bayern Munich squad should not come as a surprise and will certainly not be the latest example of a player opting for a situation that could offer a better playing time chance. .

Wing? Central midfielder? Center back? All have a surplus of players that Julian Nagelsmann will be responsible for keeping happy. Factor of having the best center forward in the world, a world class Raumdeuter, and a Canadian phenomenon at left-back, and a solid cast of others, there just isn’t much room for roster growth – or playing time.

It’s hard to imagine that Sabitzer wouldn’t regret his decision at least a little bit, but Musiala is also reportedly getting nervous.

With the news that the club could focus on extensions for players like Niklas Süle and Serge Gnabry, Bayern Munich’s desirability scoreboard in the eyes of players in the transfer market could be even lower.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown in Bavaria, it could be much worse.

Song of the week: Chevelle “Vitamin R”

This one might sound a bit obscure to some, but I always narrated this song when I got home from work at home in the mid-2000s. This song was released widely in Philly at the time. I always looked forward to this song on the radio as I moved away from cubic life.

Released in 2004, the song was written by the band because their friend had been misdiagnosed with ADHD and had become addicted to the drug Ritalin (hence “Vitamin R”).

Chevelle had a few hits and it probably wasn’t the biggest of them, but I’ve always been a fan. As they were lumped together under the Nu Metal genre, they quickly fell into the limelight, but I still like to bring this up once in a while on my playlist:

The band continues, so if you liked that, listen to them. “Send the Pain Below” is another great song from them.

A quick programming note

Due to the ridiculous travel schedule I have this week, I was unable to record a weekend warm-up podcast. Rest assured, I’ll be back next weekend… worse than ever!

Neuer deserves another deal

With the news this week that Bayern Munich could launch yet another contract extension for Manuel Neuer, it can be assumed that the fans aren’t the only ones who think Neuer is still playing at a fantastic level.

If that comes to pass, Alexander Nübel will likely request a transfer, which makes the move all the more bizarre. The bright side of Bayern Munich, however, could be that Nübel appears to be a player the club could make money on.

Predictions

While Bayern Munich should be able to easily fend off FC Augsburg, it remains to be seen how much of a distraction Joshua Kimmich’s situation will become. Admittedly, the club are annoyed that one of their key players could potentially have problems throughout the season.

Other than that, the Bavarians look set to pick up where they left off in the Bundesliga.

Prediction: FC Augsburg 0-3 Bayern Munich

Other Bundesliga predictions include:

  • Wolfsburg 3-1 Arminia Bielefeld
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth

  • Union Berlin 3-2 Hertha Berlin
  • SC Freiburg 2-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
