Paris Saint-Germain beat Real Madrid 2-0 to clinch their spot in the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals on Thursday, while Sam Kerr’s second-half goal edged Chelsea ahead of Servette. Shaken by a mysterious attack on French international Kheira Hamraoui and a crushing 6-1 loss to national title rivals Lyon, PSG scored a welcome victory thanks to goals from Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Sakina Karchaoui. The French champions, two-time vice-European champions, took first place in Group B with two games to go after recording a fourth consecutive victory. They scored 13 unanswered goals. Madrid remain on track for progress but are only two points ahead of Kharkiv, who won 2-0 at Breidablik in Iceland.

Last season’s beaten finalists Chelsea were frustrated with Swiss club Servette for more than an hour before Australian star Kerr broke the deadlock at Kingsmeadow.

It was enough to give the Blues a 1-0 victory, just over a week after beating the same opponents 7-0 in Switzerland.

Unbeaten, Chelsea lead Juventus by three points to the top of Group A after the Italians beat Wolfsburg 2-0 in Germany, two former winners.

Kathrin-Julia Hendrich’s self-owning goal put Juventus ahead at the start of the second half before Andrea Staskova scored the points in stoppage time.
