Roma, Atalanta and Lazio all won to stay the course for the top spots.

Roma remained fourth, two points behind Inter, after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Cagliari, threatened with relegation.

Atalanta are a point further and also had to recover after conceding the opening goal in a 3-1 win at Sampdoria.

Lazio beat Fiorentina 1-0 to overtake their opponent and Juventus in sixth place.

Goals from Danilo D’Ambrosio and Federico Dimarco allowed Inter to keep the pressure on the top two: AC Milan and Napoli.

Inter took the lead in the 34th when D’Ambrosio directed a superb pass from Alexis Sánchez and the game shifted again in favor of the Serie A champion seven minutes into the second half when the midfielder Empoli midfielder Samuele Ricci received a red card for a horrific tackle on Nicolò Barella.

Dimarco doubled Inter’s lead in the 66th when he landed a cross at the far post from Lautaro Martínez.

Inter also ruled out three goals – two for offside and another for handball – while a Roberto Gagliardini header came off the post.
