London: Southampton concluded the signing of Blackburn striker Adam Armstrong on Tuesday on a four-year contract worth £ 15million.

Armstrong’s arrival helps fill the void left by the departure of last season’s top scorer Danny Ings to Aston Villa earlier this month.

“It’s amazing to be here – such a massive club with a great fan base and it’s just something I’m really looking forward to,” said the 24-year-old, who has scored 28 goals in championship last season.

“I thought it was perfect as a next step. I wanted to come back to the Premier League from what I did for Blackburn, so I’m over the moon.”

The Saints also announced the signing of Chelsea striker Armando Broja on a season-long loan on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old signed a five-year contract with the European champions in July after impressing on loan at Vitesse Arnhem last season.

“Armando is a very talented player who impressed us last season,” said Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

“He’s young, but now he comes with a full season of senior football experience with a good team, and he brings a lot of qualities that can help us.”

Southampton start their Premier League campaign at Everton on Saturday.
